We grow a large variety of annual and perennial herbs and flowers. Some of the flowers we grow are edible, but most are not. The herbs we grow are medicinal, culinary, and pest-deterrent. We grow these herbs and flowers with respect for the land, animals and people.
We amend our soils with natural minerals and composted organic materials to produce nutrient dense plants. Our crops are free of synthetic and toxic pesticides and fertilizers. When necessary, we resort to natural processes to protect our crops, and intensive management to minimize weed pressure.
Egg Layers: We choose our chicken’s breeds based on hardiness, foraging ability and heritage. Their diet consists of an organic, non-soy, non-gmo grain mix along with fresh grass and any grubs they dig up while being consistently moved to new pasture behind the cows. In the winter when fresh grass is less available, we supplement with natural minerals and vitamins to maintain the health of the birds.
Broilers: We raise our meat birds from birth to death. They are fed an organic, non-soy, non-gmo grain mix. As soon as they are old enough, they go from the brooder to a Salatin-style pasture pen which is moved over grass daily until the birds reach ideal weight. They are then processed humanely on our farm.
We buy grass-fed calves from a local cow/calf producer, finish them on our pastures, and take them to a local butcher to be processed. We use management intensive rotational grazing techniques to protect and improve the health of our pastures and to ensure our cows get the highest quality grass at all times.
